Dash for Trash finds success despite weather

Dash for Trash finds success despite weather

Rain did little to prevent a dedicated group of citizens from collecting litter at the second annual Dash for Trash.
The event involves different teams who hit the streets of Ardmore and the surrounding area to pick up whatever litter they find. In all, organizer Margaret Ward said that about 80 people participated in this year’s Dash for Trash. About 70 went out to gather the garbage.
“It rained the whole time,” Ward said. “It was brutal and it was cold.” Despite the less than desirable conditions, she said everyone had a great time and that at least it makes a for a funny story.
“We got more trash last year but of course we had 150 people,” Ward said. However, she said in all they stuffed four dumpsters full of trash as well as filling a trailer.
“We ended up getting all sorts of stuff,” Ward said. “We got a couple of couches, an ottoman, just a little bit of everything.”
While the rain hindered things this year, Ward said that  she was thinking about having another Dash for Trash in the spring and spoke with the Ardmore Beautification Council about it on Wednesday.
