The European Championships are in full swing in Berlin, Germany, and Glasgow, Scotland.
However, it was a nightmare day for Swedish Nilsson who has been competing in the decathlon in Berlin.
Nilsson was taking his second attempt at the 4.70 metres in the pole vault when it went very wrong.
Mid-way through the jump, Nilsson‚Äôs pole snapped in two and he was went tumbling into the mat.
‚ÄúIt‚Äôs always a bit scary and you get a little shaken,‚ÄĚ he told SVT after the awkward moment.
‚ÄúI have never done such a huge break before.‚ÄĚ
Nilsson took to Instagram after his mistake and posted a snap of him at the competition with the caption: ‚ÄúI‚Äôm sorry.‚ÄĚ
But fans were quick to comment on the picture and offer their support to the 27-year-old.
