SARATOGA SPRINGS – A city woman on Monday admitted she was high on heroin and cocaine when she collided head-on with another vehicle while her 8-year-old child was in the car.

Wendy Cook, 47, pleaded guilty to felony vehicular assault in Saratoga County Court following a Jan. 20 crash on Geyser Road in Saratoga Springs that resulted in serious injury to the driver of the other car.

Cook’s child, who wasn’t properly restrained in the back seat when the crash occurred, also was treated for injuries.

Cook and her 8-year-old son were traveling east on Geyser Road in a 2010 Chevrolet when Cook crossed over the center line and crashed into a 2000 Buick Century headed west on the road near Cady Hill Boulevard.

Cook also goes by Wendy Knowlton-Cook. She was arrested in October 2007 for prostitution and felony reckless endangerment in Schenectady. The case gained notoriety because she was supposed to be watching her two children at the time of her arrest.

She is the daughter of Jack Knowlton, a well-known figure in horse racing circles and part owner of Funny Cide, the horse that nearly won the Triple Crown in 2003.
