A pair of North Fort Myers women are under arrest after a joint investigation involving the Secret Service recovered thousands of dollars in counterfeit bills and a large stash of illegal narcotics.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, a months long investigation into suspects passing fake currency in Southwest Florida allowed detectives to execute a search warrant for 1261 Old Bridge Road in North Fort Myers on Thursday. LCSO said that investigators found two inkjet printers, Exacto knives, multiple boxes of paper commonly used to print counterfeit currency, approximately $2,000 of counterfeit US currency, and approximately $5,000 worth of uncut U.S. currency and other bill making material.

Detectives also found a collection of narcotics including, controlled prescriptions, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, Fentanyl along with a 9mm handgun.

Lee County jail records show that both women who were arrested in the bust, 32-year old Ashley Busch and 44-year old Deborah Pegg, had been incarcerated multiple times over the last few years for drug charges along with other violations. Busch was charged with multiple counts of drug trafficking. Pegg was charged with possession and manufacturing of counterfeit currency.

The Naples Police Department recently released tips on how to spot a fake bill due to increased counterfeit activity in Southwest Florida.
