The Jeep Compass as a hatchback? Well, why not. Here is a render that shows what a hatchback version of the Jeep  Compass will look like. Of course, Jeep may never build something like this considering that the core of the company revolves around building SUVs.
But it‚Äôs still interesting to see what a hatchback based on the Compass will look¬†like, especially considering the fact that the platform that the SUV sits on ‚Äď Fiat Small Wide ‚Äď has actually been¬† used for a hatchback ‚Äď the Fiat 500L.
Meanwhile, the Small Wide platform that the Jeep Compass is based on is likely to be the basis for a new, sub-4 meter compact SUV that Jeep is planning for the Indian market in 2020. The new SUV will compete with vehicles, such as the Maruti Brezza and the Ford EcoSport.
It’s expected to have a turbocharged petrol engine, with the platform ready to support hybrid and electric  powertrains in future. We got our rendering artist Vipin Vathoopan to put together a render of the new, sub-4 meter  Jeep compact SUV. Here’s a glimpse at what the new SUV could look like.
Coming back to the Compass, Jeep has just introduced two new variants of the SUV to boost sales in India, this festive season. One variant is called the Black Pack ‚Äď essentially a stylistic makeover for the SUV ‚Äď and the other is a new top-of-the-line variant called the Limited Plus.
The Limited Plus variant of the Compass adds a big list of features and stylistic modifications to the SUV. Early next year, the SUV will get a new top-end variant called the Trailhawk. Off-road focused, the Trailhawk variant of  the Compass will use the 2-litre turbocharged diesel engine, but will also get an automatic gearbox.
This gearbox will be a 9-speed torque converter automatic, and will be paired to an all-wheel drive system that has  the Selectrac terrain response system. The Selectrac terrain response system will get sand and rock modes. The SUV  will also get revised suspension and bumpers for better off-road ability.
