Oh, dear; it appears that Stephen Colbert has found himself the target of Piers Morgan’s Twitter wrath. Which, as anyone who follows such things knows, can be quite considerable.
British media personality took some time out of his Thursday to fire off a returning shot at ‚ÄúLate Show‚ÄĚ host Stephen Colbert, after Colbert suggested that Morgan is ‚Äústupid.‚ÄĚ
On Wednesday‚Äôs episode of CBS‚Äô ‚ÄúLate Show With Stephen Colbert,‚ÄĚ the late-night host weighed in on the tariff back-and-forth between President Trump and the European Union ‚ÄĒ and tossed in a dig at Morgan in the process.
Reacting to European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker‚Äôs reported comment that ‚ÄúWe can also do stupid‚ÄĚ when it comes to imposing tariffs, Colbert wisecracked, ‚ÄúOh, we know Europeans can do stupid. I‚Äôve met Piers Morgan.‚ÄĚ
When Colbert‚Äôs dig came to Morgan‚Äôs attention Thursday, via a tweet linking to a video of the jab, Morgan shot back in kind, suggesting that British actor and comedian James Corden ‚ÄĒ who hosts ‚ÄúThe Late Late Show‚ÄĚ following Colbert‚Äôs program ‚ÄĒ would take over Colbert‚Äôs gig.
‚ÄúHo ho @StephenAtHome‚Ķ,‚ÄĚ Morgan wrote. ‚ÄúYou‚Äôll see how stupid we Europeans are when @JKCorden gets your job.‚ÄĚ
While Morgan was no doubt pleased with his riposte to Colbert‚Äôs joke, the ‚ÄúGood Morning Britain‚ÄĚ personality received additional fire, from Twitter users who were quick to remind Morgan of his short-lived CNN gig.
‚ÄúRemember when you had Larry King‚Äôs job for 5 minutes but turned out Americans couldn‚Äôt stand you?‚ÄĚ asked one responder.
