Newcomer Page Six TV made news after having tried out new hosts for seven weeks when it went without any official host in the session ending May, 6 and allowed its regular talent to carry the show. The result was a double-digit increase in both ratings and demographics in the otherwise quiet frame that included the first full week of the May sweep.

The closely watched freshman matched its highest rating of the season with a 14% surge from the prior stanza to a 0.8 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, and improved 25% among women 25-54 to a 0.5, tying fellow rookie Daily Mail TV in the key demo.

Elsewhere, the top three talk shows were higher, while most others in the category were flat. Dr. Phil grew 3% to a 3.3, its best rating since the frame beginning April 2, and easily led the talkers for the 87th straight week.

Also on the move were Live with Kelly and Ryan and Ellen DeGeneres, which both rose 5% to a 2.2 and tied for second place.

Among magazines, TMZ and Access were the hottest, with gains of 17% and 9%, jumping to 1.4 and 1.2, respectively. Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition were the genre leaders with a 2.9, despite easing 3% and 6%, respectively.

Judge Judy was the highest rated show in syndication by a widening margin, clocking a stellar 7.0 for the second week in a row. This marks the 11th consecutive that Judy has been No. 1 in syndication overall.
