The Met Gala is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, and the Internet is getting in on the fun. If you’re enjoying the evening from home instead of walking the red carpet, lucky you: You get to enjoy all of the memes Twitter is churning out in response to the event in real time. This year’s theme is “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” and social media is hard at work dissecting the attendees’ interpretations of the suggested dress code, “Sunday best.” It turns out fashion’s biggest night is also one of its funniest, at least when online spectators are riffing on the goings-on and outfit choices.
