From laugh-out-loud comedy to action packed adventure…

It’s heating up across the city, and we’re trading our al fresco adventures for indoor activities that mean never seeing more than five seconds of sun.

And if you’re looking to trade in your Netflix series binge-watching for a bigger screen, we’ve rounded up all the big releases in cinemas across the city this month.

Here are our top picks of films in cinemas in Dubai this July.

Deadpool 2

Ryan Reynolds returns for a second installment of action-packed blockbuster, Deadpool 2 which is out this week. This time around, Deadpool is joining forces with fellow mutants Bedlam, Shatterstar and Domino — to protect a boy from the all-powerful Cable.

The Incredibles 2

Despite the fact that it’s been a decade since the release of the first film, the Parr family are picking up where the debut installment left off. Taking on the Underminder and the Screen Slaver – a new techno-savvy evil, it’s an action-packed adventure that even sees baby Jack-Jack, and his new found super-powers chipping in.

TAG

Who doesn’t remember a playground game of tag? Well, this group of adult friends never stopped playing it. Having played the same game of tag every day for the last 30 years, this cute comedy tells the story of how this childhood game keeps these friends together. Best of all, it’s based on a true story.

Ocean’s 8

This heist film proves that any job Danny Ocean and his crime crew can pull off, his ex-con sister Debbie (Sandra Bullock) can do with a lot less manpower. Leading a group of seven other talented women, Debbie sets her sights on New York’s illustrious Met Gala and a diamond necklace worth $150 million.

From July 5: Ant-Man and the Wasp

Set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, lead character Scott Lang (Adam Judd) is stuck balancing his home life as a father with his responsibilities as Ant Man under house arrest. When he’s presented with a new mission, Lang teams up with the new Wasp (Evangeline Lily), to track down the evil Ghost.

From July 12: Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation

The latest installment in the Hotel Transylvania series sees Drac (Adam Sandler) and his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) set sail on a cruise. What the duo don’t know is that it’s going to lead them right into a strap set by Ericka (Kathryn Hahn), the descendant of famed monster hunter Van Helsing.

From July 19: Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again

The long-awaited sequel to Mamma Mia, the hugely successful musical comedy based on anthology of Abba music, is released this month. From July 26: Teen Titans Go! To The Movies

For those that aren’t familiar with the Teen Titans Go! franchise, it’s an animated celebration of all things DC Comics with a funny dose of reality show realness. The film’s meta-plot focuses on the Super-Kids, led by Robin (Scott Menville), who try to convince a Hollywood director that they too deserve their own superhero movie. Oh, and they take the mickey out of Green Lantern a lot. Sorry, Ryan Reynolds.

From July 26: Mission: Impossible – Fallout

Whether you’ve seen every Mission: Impossible film or this latest installment is your first viewing, Mission: Impossible – Fallout will leave your mind blown. From super-spy Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) fighting his nemesis August Walker (Hengry Cavill) while barrelling out of a plane at 30,000 feet, to careening on a motorcycle through narrow Parisian streets without a helmet, you have to constantly remind yourself that this franchise’s USP is that the actors perform their own stunts.
