Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a serious and thoughtful captain but along with that, he also has a very mischievious side to him. Dhoni’s instructions, scoldings and jokes from behind the stumps have become a part of his legend now.

As a captain, Dhoni gives his best on the field and expects the same from his players too. Dhoni is constantly thinking on the field, changing tactics and giving his insight to his players. Dhoni’s lightning quick reactions and running is a visual in itself.

On Sunday, during Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Indian Premier League (IPL) match against table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Dhoni showed his exceptional running and his humourous side in the same moment.

And his humourous side scared the bejesus out of Ravindra Jadeja.

In the last delivery of the 7th over, Shikhar Dhawan tapped Harbhajan Singh’s delivery towards short mid wicket and took a run. Dhoni ran from behind the wickets towards the ball while Jadeja was running in from deep mid-wicket.

Dhoni managed to reach the ball first and after giving a look towards Dhawan, ensuring he was taking only a single, Dhoni gestured towards Jadeja as if he was going to throw the ball at him.

Jadeja held his hands up in protection and Dhoni walked away laughing.

Twitter had a field trip over the incident and did not spare Jadeja while laughing hysterically over Dhoni’s antics.

SRH have already managed to qualify for the IPL play-offs after their 9-wicket win over Delhi Daredevils on Thursday. Sitting comfortably on top of the table, it is CSK, who need a win today in order to seal their play in the play-offs.

CSK had a chance to confirm their spot in the play-offs when they took on Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Friday but a classic T20 innings from Jos Buttler kept RR’s hopes alive and CSK had to wait longer to enter the play-offs.

On Sunday, CSK took on Hyderabad at home in Pune and Dhoni made one change in the line-up bringing back Deepak Chahar after his injury to replace Karn Sharma.

SRH scored 179/4 in 20 overs after Dhawan (79) and Kane Williamson (51) attacked the CSK bowlers to all corners of the ground.

The Pune pitch looked to have some swing and after an initial phase where the SRH batsmen applied caution, Dhawan and Williamson opened up in time to blaze away for boundaries.

However, a simple catch by Harbhajan and a brilliant running catch from Dwayne Bravo sent Dhawan and Williamson back to the pavilion, respectively.

In the end, Deepak Hooda’s 11-ball 21 propelled SRH to the score.

For CSK, Chahar came out with best figures of 1/16 in 4 overs while Shardul Thakur returned with 2/32.

CSK’s next two games will be against Delhi Daredevils on May 18 and Kings XI Punjab on May 20.
