This is the moment a furious taxi driver got out of his cab on a busy A500 slip road and launched a foul-mouthed tirade at the motorist behind him ‚Äď because he honked his horn.
Dashcam footage shows the queuing cabbie hit the roof of his car with his hand before getting out, striding over and unleashing a torrent of abuse at Alex Plant for not allowing him into the slip lane at Sideway.
Alex, aged 19, said: “I was pretty annoyed when the cabbie tried to cut in out of nowhere, as I’d looked at my mirror and it looked like he was just going to carry on but then he suddenly just barged in.
‚ÄúI just thought to myself, ‚Äėwhat is this man doing?‚Äô.
“My driving instructor would have been horrified if he saw a driver driving the way the cabbie was driving. I’d suggest he re-take his test.
“It was very dangerous of him to just suddenly cut in like that, and I honked at him to let him know I was here.
‚ÄúI was quite amused that he thought he was in the right and that I was in the wrong, and when he got out of his car I thought to myself ‚Äėthis is a mad man‚Äô.‚ÄĚ
Alex was travelling in the second lane at 4pm when the navy Toyota Avensis pulled alongside him and wanted to move into the slip lane just after junction 15.
The driver ‚Äėcut‚Äô in front of Alex so he blasted his horn at him ‚Äď prompting the furious outburst.
In the video the middle-aged man can be seen marching towards Alex‚Äôs black Audi A3 before yelling: ‚ÄúYou were in that f**king lane! Who do you think you are? You stupid b**tard!‚ÄĚ
Alex can be heard shouting back: ‚ÄúAre you stupid? Are you f**king dumb?‚ÄĚ
Alex said: “I was worried he might do something to my car but in the end he just started yelling at me.
“It was just a shock and I think people’s road rage needs to be dialled in. I see it quite a bit and it’s totally unnecessary.
‚ÄúThere are many dangerous drivers on the road and I think everyone should get a dashcam so that these people can be held accountable.‚ÄĚ
Alex, who passed his driving test a year ago, plans to lodge a formal complaint against the driver.
Alex said: “I think he needs to think about what he’s doing, read the signs a bit more carefully and calm down, especially since he might have passengers in the back.
“All I did was honk at him because he was in the wrong, and someone who gets enraged so quickly is just simply an angry person. I think he just jumped the gun.
“I’m going to file a complaint because he’s a dangerous taxi driver and he shouldn’t be allowed to road rage without consequence.
‚ÄúHopefully they make him re-take the test and he‚Äôll know how to handle himself on the road properly.‚ÄĚ
